Why do believers draw conclusive statements supporting their beliefs, with unsupportable premises?

It comes from a long tradition of invalid logical processes. They think because they believe one thing with no factual support, and can then vaguely associate a hodgepodge of other random things with it by playing power ball philosophy, in their minds they've somehow figured out all of life's great mysteries.
